Aster Muro is excited to present an online exhibition of new work by artist Charles Snell.
This collection of 24 original fresco panels is an exploration in plaster of the tension between feeling grounded and centred, versus the desire to seek and venture forth. As with all of Charles’ work, the new abstract frescoes focus on the idea of connection, both materially and spiritually, seeking to connect art, place and people, and searching to create opportunities for moments of individual truth.
Inspired by Spanish earth, sky, heat, art and history, the palette in this body of work is elemental and organic. Charles’ instinctive, energetic movements, and mark-making, performatively explore our connection to environment, land, time and history, capturing moments of time, and reconnecting to something fundamental. In these works, Charles grapples with a personal and universal state of being, in the resonant question of what it has recently meant to be at home.
