Green Rooms

2020 - 16 x 5m

The largest contemporary fresco in the UK, installed in June 2020 at the Green Rooms, MediaCityUK, Manchester.

Assisted by students from Manchester School of Art (MSA).

This fresco channels the external energy and dynamism of the local area, with ideas of frequency, sound waves, bold movement and action, but within this, there are internal moments of reflection and a watery elemental quality. The fresco literally and symbolically creates an in-between space, a collision point between the outside world and the inner sanctuary of the residents’ homes, in which a transition from action to quietude can begin to take place. It is a powerful, embracing invitation, a ‘welcome home.’
